Atlantis Memories
Author: Rhiannon - rhian_morwenna
Summary: A series of drabbles about memory
Word Count: 100 each
Genres: Drabble, Character Study, Episode Tag
Disclaimer: Don’t own, never will.
Author's Notes: Tabula Rasa - 1. a. The mind before it receives the impressions gained from experience. b. The unformed, featureless mind in the philosophy of John Locke. 2. A need or an opportunity to start from the beginning. Syn: a clean slate. From Latin: tabula (tablet) + rasa (erased)

Peace in the Bottom of a Bottle
Characters: Radek Zelenka
Rating: PG
Spoilers/Timeline: Hot Zone

Radek sat in his quarters, alone. He stared at the bottle of alcohol before taking another deep drink. Maybe it would drown out the screams Johnson made as she died in his lap, erase the image of blood leaking from her nose and mouth. If he was lucky it would purge what everyone believed to be Rodney’s last words and the certainty that he would outlive his friend by mere minutes. Maybe, if he was very lucky, he would forget Carson’s look of helplessness and despair. Radek took a deep drink hoping peace was in the bottom of the bottle.

In Sickness and in Health
Characters: Carson Beckett, John Sheppard
Pairing: Carson/John
Rating: G

John’s latest concussion erased his memory. He could speak but had no memory of his life. Carson told him he was in the Air Force, he’d been in an accident, and was in the infirmary. Time would tell if his past would return. John touched the ring on his finger and asked about his wife. Carson told him he was sure the right people knew what had happened. Then he let John rest.

In his office, Carson pulled the matching ring out of his pocket. John didn’t consider he might have a husband. Carson put his ring on and cried.

He Wished He Could Forget
Characters: John Sheppard
Rating: G
Spoilers: 38 Minutes, The Eye, The Siege part 3, Trinity, Conversion, The Lost Boys, The Long Goodbye

John wished to forget so many things.

The Iratus bug attached to his neck, slowly killing him.

Killing 55 Genii with the push of a single button.

Losing Ford, seeing the face of the idealistic young Marine contorted by the Wraith enzyme.

Arcturus. Allowing Rodney to convince him to proceed after Collin’s death, the look on his face after the project failed, nearly killing them both.

Transforming into an Iratus and secretly blaming Carson for the whole thing.

Trapped in his body while Thalen hunted Elizabeth.

He wished he could erase the memories of much of the past 2 years.

Good job, hon! Second one made me wanna cry. *is sad*

Thank you! *grins* The first two are brand new, the third is a previous one I added to the group since it's the same prompt - Tabula Rasa.

I had to do one where someone did forget, not just what people wanted to forget and. I could easily go through each character and pick what he/she wanted to forget and what method.

I decided that Carson and John's story was the most horiffic, a physician tending to his patient/spouse who didn't remember him.

Looks like you were spot on with #2! You made everybody cry. *evil grin*

And, yes, that would be horrible--kind of like dealing with a spouse with Alzheimer's. One can only hope that John's memory returns. *g*

Yes, I know #2 could be a longer stand alone fic. After I get done with all my 7 Deadly Sins fics. Both pairings. *grin*

As bad as Alzheimer's it, it's slow. You get a chance to adjust. (It took several months for my grandfather to forget me) With the number of serious concussions I've had through the years, I'm kinda afraid of #2 happening to me.

OMG! those were all so good but that second one....Oh man that made me cry...hell, still crying!! Poor Carson!!
17th-Apr-2006 12:28 am (UTC)
Thank you. The second one was a personal challenge to make 100 words as emotional as possible. I'm glad I'm not the only one who needed tissues.

OH! You succeeded!! I was bawling!! That image of Carson was so damn sad!!
17th-Apr-2006 12:42 am (UTC)
That image is what popped into my head and demanded to be written.
17th-Apr-2006 01:13 am (UTC)
It was seriously that image playing in my head that had me bawling!
17th-Apr-2006 02:27 am (UTC)
Oh, I was sniffling myself when I wrote it.
17th-Apr-2006 02:28 am (UTC)
Oh yeah...that's the sign of a truly sad scene!
16th-Apr-2006 07:22 pm (UTC)
Well done, especially the second one.

Thank you very much. *does little happy dance* Yes, I tend to use "did I hit a nerve?" as a standard to reach for in most stories.
17th-Apr-2006 01:02 am (UTC) - Bottom of a Bottle
I thought that the first drabble was the worst.

Poor Radek! All of them were good.
17th-Apr-2006 02:25 am (UTC) - Re: Bottom of a Bottle
*laughs* I think this is the first time I had a fic called worse than another, and I know it's a compliment. *grins*

Radek's was the first that came to me last night. (John's solo one is older but in the same theme, so I reposted it.) I think Radek's ordeal was the worst thing he's gone through so far, it was so personal.

BEAUTIFUL.

*cries*

I love Zelenka's the best, but I also like the Carson/Sheppard one.

*hands tissue*

I'm glad you liked them. The first two were written when I was in a darker mood (which is probably kinda obvious).
